Summary: Can't login -- Invalid Password Product: Wine Version: 1.0.0 Platform: PC URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?bThumbnail=true&iId =14942 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: blocker Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ragai@avaarsani.ca
I tried D-Link's IPSurveillance (versions 3.0 and 3.2) under Wine 0.9.51, 1.0RC5 and 1.0 under UBUNTU (7.10 & 8.04). It always installed without any error messages. I must enter a password during the installation. I can see the application running. I can see its icon in the task bar. However, when I try to lunch the application nothing happens. Just the hourglass and then nothing. When I try to lunch it the second time I get the login window. I always get the "Invalid password" error message.
I do not know how to trace/debug this issue as I am new to Wine.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-06-20 15:14:24 --- Terminal output is always a good start.

--- Comment #2 from Ragai ragai@avaarsani.ca 2008-06-20 17:59:06 --- How do I get the terminal output? I am sure Wine must have some sort of logging facility but do not where. I am familiar with Linux but totally new to Wine.
Thanks,

--- Comment #5 from Ragai ragai@avaarsani.ca 2008-06-23 11:30:27 --- (From update of attachment 14304) Here is the error messages I got when installing the application. I, later, corrected the user name and company in /.wine/system.reg. I used the user name "admin" as this is the standard when installing on WinXP. Thanks,

--- Comment #6 from Ragai ragai@avaarsani.ca 2008-06-23 13:11:32 --- I, also, noticed that iexplore.exe produces a white box. Nothing more. I just get a box with a frame titled "Wine Internet Explorer". In the terminal there are a few "fixme:..." errors. Not sure if the two are related.
Thanks,

--- Comment #8 from Ragai ragai@avaarsani.ca 2008-06-25 22:13:01 --- Thanks. Now iexplorer works OK.
But for the original bug, any idea what these error messages (in the attachment) are? Or what can be done to eliminate them?
Best regards,

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-23 07:16:24 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.11 or newer) wine?

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.11 or newer) wine?
Unfortunately yes. It is the same for version 1.1.10 and 1.1.11. However, in version 1.1.12 the installer fails. I'll uninstall wine completely, upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 and try again.

No need, 1.1.12 is broken. Build from git, or wait for 1.1.13.
