Bug ID: 39086 Summary: Fireworks CS6: any action needing a mouse drag won't work Product: Wine Version: 1.7.49 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: blocker Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: lox@knc.nc Distribution: ---
Created attachment 52077 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=52077 Program Logs
Fireworks CS6 installs properly along the Creative Suite 6.
About everything seems to work properly except anything that needs dragging: moving an element, drawing etc.
Moving an elements with the arrow keys, or adding a text element with a single click works properly though.

Hmm. I've seen bug triagers post that link a lot, but I've never visited it until now. I don't know if it used to be more useful, but it's currently terrible.
You have to scroll up that page to get the list of the severity levels. The first thing you have to know is that the severity is considered across the whole Wine project. A "blocker" is a bug which blocks all progress on Wine development. "Critical" and "major" are for bugs which affect many applications. Any bug which only affects a single app is, by definition, "normal" or lower, even if it renders that app useless.

--- Comment #4 from Laurent Dinclaux lox@knc.nc --- Can this bug get confirmed plz?
It seems like a very old issue, CS5 had the same problem. (https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=71176#71176) Fireworks is the last version that will be ever done and it is the best in class graphic software for web developers.
Apart form the dragging issue it installs and seems to work really well.

--- Comment #5 from Laurent Dinclaux lox@knc.nc --- How can I help getting this bug fixed ?
With that fixed that app could join the working apps gang ...

Why isn't that bug linked to the proper App in the AppDB ?
Because no one has added the bug to an app in the AppDB.

Reporting that the bug is still present is fine; please do so in comments rather than changing the version field. Also there's not really any "archival" policy on Wine's Bugzilla, bugs stay open until they're resolved.

--- Comment #20 from iongion@yahoo.com --- As of today, Tue, Oct 2020, here is the experience running Fireworks CS6 using wine-5.0 on Ubuntu 2020
1) The was an NTLM authentication issues, which I solved by installing winbind
sudo apt-get install winbind -y
2) First I needed to install all these using winetricks
winetricks atmlib gdiplus msxml3 msxml6 vcrun2005 vcrun2005sp1 vcrun2008 ie6 fontsmooth-rgb gecko
3) From https://ia800104.us.archive.org/4/items/PowerPointViewer_201801/PowerPointVi...
wine ~/Downloads/PowerPointViewer.exe
4) From https://download.microsoft.com/download/2/e/0/2e01308a-e17f-4bf9-bf48-161356...
wine msiexec /i ~/Downloads/msxml6_x64.msi
I have also installed Visual C++ Runtime 2010 manually and all fonts I could find.
All installation went perfect, the mouse problem is still here after 5 years almost.
Dragging does not update live, it even seems to have a big lag whenever it works, currently the UI is absolutely perfect, but can't do anything with the program as no drawing / dragging is possible.
Do you guys still investigate something related to this ? Do you need any help ? What can I do ?

--- Comment #22 from iongion@yahoo.com --- Last test above was made with the wine-devel channel, now using wine-5.19
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39086
--- Comment #23 from iongion@yahoo.com --- Just a bump, one year after, I've tested both
Wine 6.0.2 - same issue Wine 7.0-rc3 - same issue
All UI works perfectly, but mouse click then drag to draw a rectangle still does not work. I think this is the only problem remaining to get this awesome program working again.

--- Comment #24 from tranalbert@gmail.com --- Tried it with Wine 9.0 stable and 9.3 development and same bug still exists.
Once again, it is just that live updating of the mouse doesn't work.
