Do you have any missing dependencies reported by configure, or some missing 32-bit compatibility libraries?
No, Ubuntu 8.04 have'nt this after
wget -q http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/387EE263.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add - sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/hardy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get build-dep wine
Ubuntu 7.10 have only 2 missing dependencies, this is only because ia32-libs lacks libdbus-1. Building process for 64bit for 8.04 was changed since 7.04 and 7.10 versions of Ubuntu (http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit).

Yes, budgetdedicated.com wine package have the same issue. ./configure --verbose don't spoke about missing packages in 8.04, only in 7.10 (but 7.10 hasn't this bug). I think, building Wine for Ubuntu 8.04 was changed since 7.10. For example, it detect flash and CD/DVD drives without myself typing in winecfg. He can work with mounted ISO images like with CD-ROM's without sudo. If I miss .exe after file, it can be not runned - it wasn't in Ubuntu 7.10. winbind was not dependence in Ubuntu 7.10. But... 7.10 and 8.04 have errors when fonts are compiling, and bison errors! P.S. After installing of Microsoft Office, .kkrieger has Century Gothic font.

--- Comment #7 from Zhenya Zenitur@yandex.ru 2009-03-09 02:47:39 --- Yes, it is current in Wine 1.1.16. Watch this. In Ubuntu 7.10, when I install Wine (from source or binary) on clear distribution, I see fonts like in native Windows. In Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 I have this: http://appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=23525 . Wine in Ubuntu 8.04 was changed. In home direcrory I can't execute 'wine pno0001', only 'wine pno0001.exe'. In all other directories in works. Visualuzation on Media Player 9.0 in Ubuntu 8.04 don't listen sound, in Ubuntu 7.10 works.
