Summary: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.0 Preferred sound level unstable Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: Other URL: http://www.nuance.com OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-multimedia AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: susancragin@earthlink.net
wine-0.9.51-190-g16aadb2 Starting with yesterday's git (I think--might have been day's before) training and recognition have suffered tremendously in DNS 9.0 Preferred. I believe this has to do with the sound level, but I am not sure. Yesterday, (Thu 20071220) when training a new user, the microphone volume had a great deal of trouble adjusting. When it finally did adjust, training went poorly, often showing a red bar to indicate that the sound was too loud. Today using the above git, the red bar appears less frequently but it still shows up. In addition, recognition has suffered, and the program sometimes hangs after a long utterance.

--- Comment #3 from Maarten Lankhorst maarten@codeweavers.com 2007-12-24 07:34:33 --- This looks ok, can you go through the audio configuration nstep with WINEDEBUG==+mixer ?

As requested. I had adjusted the volume in Alsa a while ago, so the sound didn't slide around and struggle the way it had.

--- Comment #5 from Maarten Lankhorst maarten@codeweavers.com 2007-12-29 07:07:21 --- Hm, no mixer output. Can you do WINEDEBUG=+mixer ? I typo'd on my request.
Also, please don't compress files unless it is bigger then about 800 kb, that way it can be read without having to download/uncompress it first.

This should be it. Please note -- the first time I ran the sound quality check it gave me a timeout, so I did it again.

--- Comment #7 from Susan Cragin susancragin@earthlink.net 2008-05-05 18:39:09 --- This bug has been corrected as of May 5th. I believe that the bug was primarily to do with Ubuntu Hardy Heron sound problems, and was fixed with the last kernel upgrade.
