Summary: Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 fails to install Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc4 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: austinenglish@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=13958) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13958) Terminal output
Saw I can get a student copy of Office 2007 for $20. Prepare for a flood of Office bug reports.
To reproduce: Insert dvd Hit bug 12486 - Microsoft Office Standard 2007 installation failure sh winetricks msxml3 Start back up, goes well. Hit bug 9014 - MS Office 2007 Home and Student edition installer crashes native rpcrt4
Then it'll pretend to actually start, but fail with a generic 'There was a problem, do you want to report to Microsoft' error. Not sure where to go from there, output isn't much hint.
I checked the AppDB, tried the suggestions there (winetricks msxml3 dotnet20 gdiplus riched20 riched30 vcrun2005sp1), but no luck. I'm going to try building 0.9.58, since the AppDB claims it worked there, and see if it's a regression.
Terminal output is attached. +relay is on the way

I've encountered the same error since 0.9.61. I, too, tried all the suggestions in the AppDB to no avail.
My terminal output is the same as what's already posted, so I won't bother to attach it. I am attaching the error log created by the installer. Perhaps someone with more expertise than I can find a clue in it.
This is from attempting to install in 1.0, with overrides set for msxml3 and rpcrt4. In this case the install was attempted from files copied to my hard drive--I'd previously tried (many times) to install from the cd, with exactly the same results.

--- Comment #3 from dimesio@earthlink.net 2008-06-22 08:16:56 --- Using rpcrt4 from Crossover Games instead of one copied from my XP partition gets past this particular error message, though the install eventually hangs when the progress bar shows it to be about 2/3 complete. The only thing the console shows at that point is "fixme:xrender:X11DRV_AlphaBlend not a dibsection" repeated endlessly. (I let it run for 30 minutes before I finally killed it.)

--- Comment #4 from dimesio@earthlink.net 2008-07-26 07:57:29 --- I tested it in 1.1.2, clean wineprefix. I did a custom install of Word only, and the only native override I set was msxml3 (definitely still needed).
The installer now gets past the generic error message and eventually installs. I say "eventually" because about 2/3 of the way through the progress bar stops moving and the process appears to hang if that's all you're looking at. Messages did continue to scroll past in the console at that point, so I let it run, and after about 20 minutes, it eventually said the install was successful. Word started up fine, but I haven't tested it beyond that yet.

--- Comment #5 from Jaime Rave jaimerave@gmail.com 2008-08-03 20:40:16 --- The same happen to me, just overriding msxml3, the installer hangs around 2/3 of the proccess and then just fload the console with:
fixme:xrender:X11DRV_AlphaBlend not a dibsection
and sometimes it shows:
fixme:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim (0x7e704e98 L"fusion.dll", (nil), (nil), 0x7df9aed0): semi-stub fixme:fusion:IAssemblyCacheImpl_InstallAssembly Ignoring assembly architecture! fixme:msi:ITERATE_PublishAssembly Manifest unhandled fixme:msi:ITERATE_PublishAssembly Assembly should be privately installed fixme:msi:ITERATE_PublishAssembly Manifest unhandled
But if you just wait enough time (around 40 minutes) the installer will finish succesfully.
