Summary: Ventrilo-codec stopped working in 1.1.27 Product: Wine Version: 1.1.27 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: magnus.alexandersson@gmail.com
When logging into a ventrilo server that uses the GSM codec I get a warning and no sound comes from the client.
You can clearly see that people are talking but there is no sound.
Downgrading to WINE version supplied in Ubuntu 9.04 fixes problem.
All necessary changes for GSM codec to work is done since before.

--- Comment #3 from Mike Kaplinskiy mike.kaplinskiy@gmail.com 2009-08-19 01:56:23 --- Since wine 1.1.27, wine has builtin gsm codec support, but ventrilo chokes on our builtin dll (or the combination of native & builtin in the same prefix).
See if you can replicate this with a clean prefix.

--- Comment #4 from Robert Andersson roband@pobox.com 2009-08-19 07:40:31 --- The problem is really in the Ubuntu-specific binaries, not in Wine as such. I'm pasting an email I got from Scott Ritchie scott@open-vote.org when I pointed out this problem:

Hi,
Thanks for your work on keeping Ubunty Wine up-to-date. I just wanted to bring your attention to a problem that surfaced in your 1.1.27 version. Due to Wine commit a89ba9e47ef98e403960e333f767bc678202ae3e the Wine GSM codec stopped working, apparently because you did not have libgsm1 installed on your compilation system. The error message I get at runtime is: err:gsm:GSM_DriverProc libgsm support not compiled in!
Hope you can fix this for 1.1.28.
Regards, Robert.
Yup, I can, and am already aware of it.
There's a bigger problem though, in that Ubuntu doesn't have a 32 bit version of this library on amd64. So 64 bit will stay broken until you can upgrade to 9.10 (I'm uploading the fix as I write this). Thanks for the notification though :)
Thanks, Scott Ritchie
