Before I report this bug, a HUGE thanks to everyone for getting Acrobat Pro 7
to install!! I now have 80-90% functionality in Linux. Yay!

Now, the bug:

The Comment fields do not work properly. First, when I open an existing pdf
document with Comments, and click on the Comments tab at the bottom left corner
of the screen, the text of the existing comments is not shown. (The username is
shown, but not the comment.) Hovering the mouse cursor over the comment does
bring a popup yellow window that reveals the comment.

Also, creating a new comment fails. It creates the comment, but the text is not
saved, so when you go back to the comment you just created, the text has
vanished. This is obviously a show stopper for those of us who need to use the
comments functionality.

happy to provide debug logs, please let me know what command line switches will
be most useful in this instance.

well, the definition I found says this:

Major       major loss of function

The inability to annotate pdf files in Acrobat Pro under wine is a MAJOR loss
of function! It is absolutely the most critical feature needed by those of us
who use Acrobat Pro. Every other bug submitted for this application pales in
comparison.

A similar bug exists using Acrobat Reader 6.01.

Mouse-over an existing "yellow sticky" comment, and you can read the comment's
text. Double click on the comment, and the sticky note appears, but is empty.

test pdf with three comments

Here's a test pdf created in Acrobat Pro 6 in Windows which demonstrates what
Acrobat comments look like. Should be viewable (but not modifiable) in regular
Acrobat Reader.

Much like with bug 11836, the summary for this bug references Acrobat Pro 6,

This is my bad. I incorrectly reported the version as Acrobat Pro 7. I
corrected the version in the bug name, but it was too late to change this in

This is a killer feature that I have urgent need of. If anyone can get Adobe
Acrobat Standard 7 or Acrobat Pro 6 to install and this feature to work before
14 August 2008, I will offer a US$100 bounty.

It's not much, but it's all I have, and if you can get either to work
(especially this feature) in that time frame I will paypal the money to any
account you specify.

confirm this bug still present in wine 1.1.40.

Now that Acrobat Pro 6 finally installs again, this is the most important
feature still lacking for all the Acrobat Pro versions. If there are resources
available to work on these applications, I suggest this bug be the first you
consider.

This bug is still present in wine 1.2.1. I've just installed wine only to use
Adobe Pro 6.0.1 with commenting features enabled.

I will also add the output I get when executing acrobat.exe.
Any help would be appreciated.

Adobe Reader 6 display comments now in current git, with one minor difference
from when running on windows - you have to click on this comment popup to see
its text, if you don't click on it comment field looks empty.

Please retest with Acrobat/Reader to see if this works well enough.

debian jessie 32 bit linux 
wine 1.7.48
Adobe acrobat XI pro 11
,although the comments works,we can't input Chinese and any other languages
(except English) in that "yellow comments rectangle"(or called sticky
notes),that's urgently needed,please help ,thanks

Can considered fixed? The issue with other languages should reserve it's own
bug and appleyuchi added into the bug report, but I am not sure if s(he) is
