Summary: Prince of Persia Warrior Within: Sound does not work even though "Test Sound" works fine in winecfg Product: Wine Version: 1.2-rc6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: alexandru.balut@gmail.com
When only "ALSA Driver" is checked in winecfg -> Audio, I press "Test Sound" and I hear a sound; but the sound in Prince of Persia Warrior Within does not work. Other applications work fine with this setting, for example Foobar2000.
More details: When only "OSS Driver" is checked in winecfg -> Audio, I press "Test Sound" and I hear a sound; and sound in Prince of Persia Warrior Within also works. I would like to use Alsa (backed up by PulseAudio) because when I check only "OSS Driver" I hear pops and clicks when the game starts, and it takes a few extra seconds..
Ubuntu 10.04

--- Comment #1 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-10-25 13:51:11 CDT --- Is this still a problem with a recent Wine (1.3.31 or newer)? There have been many changes in Wine's audio implementation recently, so it's definitely worth a try.
If the problem persists, does this demo of PoP:WW show the same problem for you? http://www.fileplanet.com/146733/140000/fileinfo/Prince-of-Persia:-Warrior-W...
In case of audio problems, please attach a debug log, containing traces according to this wiki page: http://wiki.winehq.org/Sound

--- Comment #2 from Alex Balut alexandru.balut@gmail.com 2011-10-25 17:28:31 CDT --- I don't see the "OSS Driver" or "ALSA Driver" anymore in winecfg -> Audio. It only sais "Driver Diagnostics - Selected driver: winealsa.drv" and I have no way to specify a driver.
Works fine now.
