Bug ID: 35514 Summary: WinZip 18: licence doesn't show up, halting the installation Product: Wine Version: 1.7.11 Hardware: x86-64 URL: http://www.winzip.com/ OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, Installer Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 47409 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47409 Screenshot
The WinZip 18 installer comes to a window with a "Decline" and "Next" button. This is, presumably, where as licence should be.
Clicking next prints:
fixme:ieframe:ControlSite_OnFocus (0x2a72148)->(1) fixme:imm:ImmGetOpenStatus (0x14da768): semi-stub
None of the buttons do anything and the installation cannot continue.
Tried mshtml, ieframe, wininet, ie6, ie7 and ie8 but they either don't make any difference or cause their own problems.
On occasion, following a failure, the installer will ask you if you would like to go ahead and install the .msi on its own (which would be nice), but when saying "Yes" the download immediately fails.
Note: there is an invisible button to the right of the language selection drop-down. Probably related.

--- Comment #2 from hanska2@luukku.com --- I wanted to try this bug, but when I run it. It complains that it cant initialize the installer gui. I just recently saw similar issue with another bug which I cant remember now.
This is basically regression, because I cant go as far as you.
wine 1.7.22
I would have tried jscript. If that makes any difference.

The versions of winzip18 I could download only had a button which brings you to an online licence, and the GUI seems different from your screenshot.
Could you retest with latest wine?
Additionally, a link to the installer you used would be nice.

--- Comment #4 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Annoyingly I can't find the same version I used originally.
I tried version 22 which does have a licence problem but the GUI is completely different. I tried a bunch in the archive too but they're laid out differently as well. http://www.winzip.com/win/en/downarc.html
Unless I can figured out where I got it from... abandoned.

--- Comment #6 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- That has the same layout as the ones in the archive.
Every download I try has a different layout to the one I started with. If it wasn't for the screenshot I'd have assumed that I'd imagined it. By the third page of Google results it gets a little boring. Tried the 64-bit to see if it made any difference but it didn't.
There are some web installers too but they're either entirely different, or just don't work.
Still don't have a download.

I could find http://download.winzip.com/ngs/winzip180.exe from vendor website, but it might not be the same installer you used.

--- Comment #8 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Tried it but it's the same as all the others. I'm pretty sure I downloaded the version I tried directly from winzip.com but it looks like they've changed the licence screen for all versions!
Indeed, I went back to Wine 1.6.2 but it refuses to continue unless Vista+ is selected. Odd, given that when I submitted this the default version was WinXP. So it looks like they've changed ALL of their installers. I hope it was worth the effort.

Since it can't be reproduced, marking abandoned.
