Summary: Freedom: First Resistance problems Product: Wine Version: 1.1.0 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: Makitk@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=14729) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14729) Open command + log for Freedom - First Resistance
Freedom: First Resistance (Labeled to work with Win98 on the box, hence having set wine to Win98 mode) often fails to load past the first screen (Rotating logo and text saying: loading config file) or manages to load full screen in 800x600 mode. Exiting Freedom: First Resistance forces the normal desktop to appear in 800x600 mode. (I usually run 1600x1200)

--- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-07-11 14:34:20 --- Please redirect output into a file it would be much easier to read. With something like: env WINEPREFIX="/home/maki/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Red Storm Enterdom\Freedom.exe" &> /tmp/wine_log.txt
What video card and driver version? Please try with virtual desktop enabled.

Abandoned.
By whom? Not me. Just hadn't anything else to report after adding the attachment.
I'll have to try Freedom: First Resistance again with 1.1.12 once someone explains to me how to get the farking menu entry back in the KMenu for Kubuntu 8.04 since that got borked somehow and I've been inquiring at various places but no-one seems to want to enlighten me about it.
And I'm not going to do a full reinstall until KDE 4 is stable enough to switch to that.

REMIND is not an appropriate resolution in Wine bugzilla.
Fun, fun. It shouldn't BE IN bugzilla's dropdown menu then.

It doesn't matter what in the bugzilla's dropdown menu. LATER and REMIND are considered as not appropriate resolutions in WineHQ bugzilla, they are meaningless.

Please do. Feel free to reopen if it's still present. I marked it abandoned because there was a request for logs 6 months ago, but they were never provided.
As for the menu entries, depends what you mean. Wine will make menu entries for installed programs, but doesn't come by default with entries for winecfg/wine explorer/notepad like many distributions provide, which I presume is what you're looking for.

That's my bad then. Must've read that wrong or had something else come through that caused me to be unable to post more than the currently shown attachment. I shall try and find the game but am going to need some help with getting the wineconfig GUI and wine explorer Kmenu entries back nonetheless. Perhaps through more personal email than bothering Bugzilla about it.

The forums would be a good resource:
be sure to search, as I think a few similar questions have already been answered.
