--- Comment #2 from Bas Zoetekouw bas@debian.org 2008-09-13 13:05:11 --- Curiously enough, I cannot reproduce the issue if I build wine myself. I can still reliable reproduce it with the Ubuntu packages from budgetdedicated.com.

Why not get the version from the synaptic package manager? It should give you 1.0.1 stable.

--- Comment #5 from Mclaud2000 mclaud2000@tutopia.com 2009-02-15 15:56:12 --- Hello
I tested Civilization IV installation in a clean wineprefix with no overrides using wine 1.1.14 and the installation completed succesfully.
This bug is likely already fixed.

--- Comment #6 from Brandon T btorgerson@gmail.com 2009-05-25 23:00:48 --- I was getting the same error installing Civilization 4 using wine-1.1.22. The problem went away after deleting all Installshield directories in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files\Common Files.

Do you still get the error with a newer version of wine and a new WINEPREFIX?

--- Comment #11 from Mike Whiteley mike@whiteley.org 2011-07-07 11:58:55 CDT --- I had the same problem with wine-1.3.21
BrandonT's post fixed it for me. Removing the directories in:
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/Install Shield/ allowed me to move past and the installer worked fine.
Does this need to be opened again?
