Directx games have crackling sound (examples are Warcraft III and Counter-Strike: Source). The problem doesn't occur with Wine 1.0.1. Using Ubuntu 8.10 with ALSA sound driver.

Interesting... killing pulseaudio worked. Why is that? And is there any hope of a fix or something, so I don't have to kill pulseaudio manually?
