Emulating a virtual screen does not work in 1.5.10, it looks like a virtual
screen is created and displayed but the screen resolution of the whole desktop
is changed too.
Starting an old application using a resolution of somewhat 320x200 makes it
impossible to do anything cause the whole desktop seems to be messed up.
Closing the started windows application changes the resolution back. That's the
good point.

Assuming you mean virtual desktop, that works fine here in 1.5.10. Have you
tried creating a clean wineprefix?

Did a test with current (1.5.23) wine and it works. Don't know why it fails
before.
