Simply put, the program AE VN tools no longer launches in staging v7.17:

I do not know if staging v7.17 is the first version where this problem occurs, but I know for a fact that AE VN tools had "just worked" on staging v7.13.
When I launch ae.exe in the terminal via the command "wine ae.exe", this is all that I get:

I just realized, does a terminal output count as a log or back trace? If so... uh oh. I guess that makes me a bad person.
Worse still is that I seemed to have not even correctly included the final line. So here's the entire thing, this time as an attachment.

--- Comment #2 from NM64+bugs.winehq.org@PM.me --- Just did farther testing using a live session of Mint 20.3 and Mint 21.0 where, immediately after booting into the live session, I installed either wine stable or wine staging (depending on what I was tested for that session), and then launched a pre-existing copy of AE VN Tools that I had previous downloaded.
7.0 stable: always worked
7.17 staging: only ~15% chance of working
So it does in fact turn out that AE VN Tools does in fact sometimes work even on wine-staging 7.17, but I'm not kidding when I say that there's only like a 15% chance of the program actually launching - out of 22 attempts to launch the program, it only ever actually launched 3 times. However, on a different session, I had a bit better success rate of 5 out of 18 times.

Interestingly, the program seems to no longer like working when there are unicode characters in the path, e.g. "アプリケーション" (without quotes); I'm pretty sure that worked back with wine-staging 7.13 but I can only test with it on a different OS installation altogether which, for this unicode issue, has me wonder if it's even a wine issue at all (though I have other wine applications that run without issue even if "アプリケーション" without quotes is in the path).
