The games shows a black-screen since on some setups, but only since a certain wine version. Other reported it to work, but not for me.

Since that commit only ddr=gdi works, ddr=opengl only results in a blackscreen.

This is most likely Mesa issue: drawing to GL_FRONT seems to be broken. The game works with the attached hack.
