No reply from the OP in 2 years, and for me Diablo runs fine with corefonts installed on arch X64. Should be marked as abandoned.
I'd rather resolve as duplicate of bug 29359 following the same way bug 29866 was closed due to the "Assertion `ptr1 < buflen'" error.
