Summary: "Psalmen - Lieder des Lebens" fails to load Product: Wine Version: 1.0.0 Platform: Other URL: http://bibelsoftware.de/index.php?mode=5&pid=82 OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: blocker Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: online@patrick-brueckner.de
Created an attachment (id=14277) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14277) wine output
Installing "Psalmen - Lieder des Lebens" works now with 1.0 - thanks for that.
Unfortunately it's still not possible to use that programme: When starting up an error "Runtime Error (6): Overflow" is shown and the programme quits.
Attached there is the wine output (a lot of fixme's). I'm not quite sure which of these errors causes the programme to crash. If the application is needed, I will provide it - just contact me via email.

'wget http://kegel.com/wine/winetricks && sh winetricks riched20'
works around the crash?

unfortunately winetricks doesnt do the job.
to get more information about that: i have created a verbose wine output (using +relay) and stripped the last 100 lines.
gcc version is 4.2.3

--- Comment #5 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-06-22 23:48:19 --- 100 lines is not useful. We need the whole thing, probably you'll need to compress it. rzip is the best compressor for large logs.
You probably want +seh,+relay, btw.

--- Comment #6 from Patrick Brueckner online@patrick-brueckner.de 2008-06-23 19:30:32 --- here you are, rzipped full log with +seh.: its too big to add attachment so here you can download it: http://www.file-upload.net/download-934066/BLB_PRG.exe-v2.log.rz.html

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-23 07:17:31 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.11 or newer) wine?

I have uninstalled my previous installation of this programme, with 1.1.12 the installation crashes (as it did before 1.0).
I also tried a clean, new WINEPREFIX, but the same results.
I've attached the debug output with +seh,+relay (rzipped).

--- Comment #10 from Patrick Brueckner online@patrick-brueckner.de 2009-01-19 06:47:02 --- Both problems persist with wine-1.1.13.
* Installer cannot be started, the output is similar to version 1.1.12
* The manually installed application (using unshield) still has the buffer overflow error message

--- Comment #11 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2009-01-19 09:55:19 --- Looking at the "wine 1.1.12 installation debug output" log, I see
002c:Call version.VerInstallFileA(00000000,004072bc "IKernel.ex_",004072c8 "IKernel.exe",0032ee8c "D:\",0032f2ac "C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32\",0032f2ac "C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32\",0032f1a8,0032f44c) ret=004031cf ... 002c:Call KERNEL32.DeleteFileA(0032eb1c "C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32\\IKernel.exe") ret=7eff7f68 002c:Ret KERNEL32.DeleteFileA() retval=00000000 ret=7eff7f68 ... 002c:Ret version.VerInstallFileA() retval=00001400 ret=004031cf (1400 is VIF_CANNOTDELETE|VIF_SHARINGVIOLATION.) ... 002c:Call oleaut32.SysAllocString(0040c844 L"Fehler bei der Installation von iKernel.exe.") ret=00404026
No idea why it can't delete iKernel.exe. Can you make sure that file does not exist before you start the run? Also, can you give us a +relay,+file,+ntdll log? (Or send us a copy of the app?)

--- Comment #12 from Patrick Brueckner online@patrick-brueckner.de 2009-01-19 14:35:47 --- Created an attachment (id=18840) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18840) wine 1.1.13 installation +relay,+file,+ntdll output
the installations were made with fresh created WINEPREFIX folders. I checked, the file does not exist.
I have checked the 1.1.13 log for this entry and couldn't see it. so attached you find the log.
I have to check with the copyrightholders, wether or not I can send you the program for debugging purposes (or does wine have a regulation about this?)
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14057
--- Comment #13 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2009-01-19 16:12:13 --- That install log didn't get very far, didn't even execute the installer?! Please check the number you dialed and try again :-)
For extra credit, start notepad in another window so wineboot etc. don't clutter the log.
Wine's policy in general is to obey copyright laws.

--- Comment #14 from Patrick Brueckner online@patrick-brueckner.de 2009-02-02 16:25:29 --- I figured out that the CD-ROM I have is broken, so forget about the errors installing the programme. The file ikernel.ex_ was unreadable from the disk.
I re-installed the programm and ran it. Here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PAL2DM05 you find the log.

--- Comment #16 from Patrick Brueckner online@patrick-brueckner.de 2009-08-06 16:14:20 --- Yes, the problem persists with wine 1.1.26. Please let me know how I can help to identify the very problem.
Though the software is closed source, I have talked to the developer and they agreed that I can send a copy to someone for debugging purposes, but must not upload it to the public.
