Mathcad 14.0 setup.exe fails to detect MDAC 2.6. Or MDAC 2.6 install fails itself?

Problem that in wine even IF I desperately try to install everything still not found error. I will try winetricks.

Sorry about the first one I posted. This has all five screens. It just proceeds to the install, but doesn't actually install anything. There's no screen with a progress bar with filenames or flying paper animations.

MDAC 2.6 is not included in winetricks, 2.5, 2.7 and 2.8 are. I think this software requires version 2.6 specifically.

In other words: Skip the autostarter and use the Mathcad setup directly.
Strangely, this setup starts, then looks crashed (console accepts commands again for a second) and then comes up again and installs.

--- Comment #10 from awesome ilyakon@gmail.com 2010-11-06 08:04:01 CDT --- I confirm this bug for mathcad 12 and mdac_2.6 bundle. Mathcad 12 distribution offers mcad_2.6.exe but wine refuses install mcad. By other words mathcad 12 doesn't work without properly mdac installation.
This problem has a simple solution. I just installed mcad_2.8 and all work fine.

this is by design. The MDAC 2.x redist installers check the OS version and refuse to install anything or claim success (and don't install anything too) when certain conditions are met.

You can't use Wine's default "Windows XP" when running MDAC installers. Either use 'winetricks mdacXX' which contains the necessary workarounds to satify installer requirements or set winver to nt40/win2k using winetricks/wincfg.
