Summary: Projected shadows do not appear in Lemony Snicket and other Unreal 2.x games. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5 Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: peanuthead_069@yahoo.com
Title says all. Not really that much of a problem gameplay-wise, although it'll be better if it's fixed. The problem appears in A Series of Unfortunate Events, HP: Prisoner of Azkaban and probably a couple of other games (such as UT2003) that use the same engine (or a variant of it).

--- Comment #6 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2012-07-19 09:54:50 CDT --- Lemony Snicket's... has a demo version, and the problem can be reproduced with that: http://download.activision.com/lemonysnicket/LemonySnicketDLdemo.exe
Still an issue as of wine-1.5.9-33-gb20a1f5. Tested with a Nvidia gfx card, proprietary driver 295.59. Confirming the bug.

--- Comment #7 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- I can't reproduce the problem with the demo of Lemony Snicket any more. Shadows appear correctly even with old Wine versions. I suspect the fix came from the newer Nvidia binary drivers and not from Wine.
Blake, do you still have the reported problem? If so, what video card/driver are you using?
Fedora 20 Nvidia binary drivers 337.12 wine-1.7.17-148-g2e5cb7a

Tested as per previous comment but updated wine to 1.7.17 . The same probelm is there, plus a new bug in the shadow was found. The shadow has a glitch in it when the model is resting on another model surface and not on the "ground". The attached image demonstrates the occurance.

Does it make a difference if you enable/disable blob shadows in UT2003?
For those who are interested: Lemony Snicket demo: http://www.fileplanet.com/148619/140000/fileinfo/Lemony-Snicket%27s-A-Series...
UT 2003 demo: http://www.fileplanet.com/117333/110000/fileinfo/Unreal-Tournament-2003-Demo...
I have shadows in both games with the default settings. In UT2003 demo if I enable blob shadows then shadows are indeed missing. Tested with nouveau/mesa git and wine-1.7.48-100-ge3c6777.

--- Comment #12 from ferretinjapan@gmail.com --- I tried again with blob shadows enabled and disabled, but didn't see any difference. I'm running the full version of ut2003 afaik. I'm fairly certain I'm not running any proprietary, or other special drivers, just mesa.
