Pardon my ignorance, but what is the VNC?
I usually use PlayOnLinux to install my stuff, but because the Setup wasn't loading properly in POL (nothing happening) I tried to load it from the command line. Do you have another suggestion on how to load it and install it to the accurate prefix?

--- Comment #3 from Xavier Vachon xvachon@gmail.com 2008-07-15 19:10:44 --- This is still an issue with Wine 1.1.1. Since I am not a developer, I would appreciate if someone could give me any further commands to run to see if a solution can be found. Thanks.

I downloaded a new version of the game, and now with wine 1.1.4 the setup works properly. I am unable to determine however if this is related to wine or just because I found a bad version before.

--- Comment #5 from Xavier Vachon xvachon@gmail.com 2009-01-09 23:06:33 --- With a clean prefix and my actual version of the game I can install it flawlessly. I feel that the issue was related to my DVD player, therefore this bug would be invalid.

Test with your original reported version (1.1.0) to confirm your theory and report back.
