Install.. Click "Enter As Guest". Open application menu (upper left corner)

All popupmenus are also black and cannot be used.

Still present in Wine 1.3.32.
I agree that this one might be a dupe of bug #26605.
Just like in case of 26605, I can only reproduce the issue in Playchess when
the application is running in Wine's full screen mode. In virtual desktop mode
the menu is shown correctly.

Reverting commit 391afac66fe4865cef2fa9508e8741fca2cd4fe1 on Wine 1.3.32 fixed
the issue in Playchess.
