Summary: Segmentation fault when using nvidia 32bit compatibility OpenGL libraries with 64-bit driver Product: Wine Version: 0.9.46. Platform: PC-x86-64 URL: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=563566 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: wine-opengl AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: woodman810@yahoo.com
Forgive me this is my first bug report.
This bug seems to only appear in these condidtions: 64-bit Linux Nvidia GeForce 8 Series with 64-bit drivers Proprietary drivers are installed before wine
I kept getting "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error messages when trying to run winecfg for the first time. After some extensive troubleshooting I was able to isolate the problem. By reinstalling the nvidia drivers without the OpenGL 32-bit compatibility libraries, I was then able to run winecfg, notepad and regedit without any problems. Of course I need those libraries to use WINE to play some 3D games.
Some have been able to work around this issue by installing and configuring WINE before they install their video card drivers. For more information I put the URL to the forum thread above (I hope that the right spot).
I should also note I am using the 64-bit WINE package.

--- Comment #1 from Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmx.net 2007-10-03 11:55:51 --- It sounds to me as something is wrong with your driver setup. I have had something similar before. Really make sure that there are not mesa 32bit libs around (removing the nvidia libs might have removed those too). Really verify that. I don't think there is a wine problem.

--- Comment #2 from Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmx.net 2007-10-07 04:07:23 --- Are you still having problems? (it really looks like a case of bad libs to me)

--- Comment #4 from sisslack woodman810@yahoo.com 2007-10-08 15:30:59 --- I think you're right about it being a lib/driver issue. My problems cleared up when I simply reinstalled it after I removed them.
Thanks for the help.
