Summary: keyboard shortcuts does not work inside an image "window" PS CS2 Product: Wine Version: 0.9.57. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: winex11.drv AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: prahal@yahoo.com
shortcuts do not works when inside of an image ? (Ctrl+N, etc) ... this is especially annoying when trying to move a layer with the ctrl keys to have it move only horizontally, move less than by 10 pixels steps , etc
... "events" do not bubble from child window to parent main one . I tried metacity (as I use to run compiz and heard it could produce some wrong behaviour for wine though I don't understand why ... except for the bug in the window manager it uses but as metacity 2.22 also shows the issue

Worked for me on Hardy with Gnome; I was able to move a selection with arrow keys with both shift and control properly.
Please give me exact key/mouse actions to reproduce. Thanks!

I found out that this is only the ctrl key that is not working and it also fails in all wine application (tested with notepad). And that in photoshop it does not only fail in a child image window but also in the main window. Seems like a new issue to me .
Basic test is Ctrl+N.
Could be a configuration issue thus I lower the severity ... but any pointer at what could be wrong would be welcomed !
Note that alt and other shortcuts works (for example space bar to play in itunes). Only Ctrl fails. This is suspicious and really make me believe on a problem on my side ... maybe my Xorg is too new and shows bugs (debian sid).

--- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-03-23 07:30:36 --- ctrl-n works fine. (The behavior in notepad is a bit confusing - try typing something and *then* pressing ctrl-n, you'll see it really works.)
In photoshop, ctrl-n opens a new windows. Works fine for me. So does shift-ctrl-n (new layer).
So the problem might be on your end...

You are right about the notepad my bad Ctrl+n works only it only have a visual effect if I type something beforehand ...
And about the keyboard problem it is fixed with a new install of the tryout version. The version I used to test must have been somewhat broken.
Sorry for the noise Alban
