I spend a few minutes nearly every day approving half a dozen test results but
there is more people submitting test results than anyone has time to care to
read each individual report.

99% of the test results that people submit where there is no maintainer for the
application are OK and don't need to be manually approved.

I propose that the AppDB be changed to simply accept new test results when
there is no maintainer and not require moderation.

I disagree. While I neglect my appdb duties, when I do check the test data,
many give platinum ratings to apps with a crapton of native workarounds/hacks,
while others give something a garbage rating for not including mfc42 on its
own.

If anything, more volunteers to administrate would be the way to go.

I guess this could also work.  If you have anyone in mind and they are
interested, as an administrator you can make other users administrators too
through their users preferences page.

I'd like to volunteer. I'm already a maintainer for several apps, so I know how
to screen submissions. I'm also interested in helping to clean up some of the
unmaintained entries (without having to take everything on as a maintainer).

I'd be happy to volunteer however I can.  Kinda new to Wine so still figuring
out what's what - presently trying to associate bugs in the bug list with
entries in the appdb (thus presumably generating a portion of the work you're
talking about).  Shoot me an email if you have anywhere I can help out on the
administration side of appdb.
