Bug ID: 57500 Summary: SQLyog no longer works with WINE Product: Wine Version: 9.20 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: mitch@claborn.net Distribution: ---
Created attachment 77527 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=77527 output from running SQLyog installer
SQLyog 13.3.0 Xubutu 24.04
SQLyog was working fine with WINE 9.20 and 9.21. I'm not sure if it ever worked with 9.22. I reverted to 9.20 and SQLyog is still not working.
Symptoms: a ps command shows that SQLyog is running, but the window never appears. I tried running the SQLyog installer and experienced the same symptoms. I'll attach console output from both the installer and the execution attempt.
I suspect that there were some OS patches between the last time that it worked correctly and the first failure.
As a temporary workaround I'm using Crossover - it is working fine.

--- Comment #3 from Rafał Mużyło galtgendo@o2.pl --- Mind checking with xwininfo if the window really isn't created as opposed - for example - just not mapped ?

--- Comment #5 from Rafał Mużyło galtgendo@o2.pl --- ...check the details on those two sqlyog windows with non-trivial size.
If they're reported as unmapped, check if wmctrl is able to make them visible and accessible.

--- Comment #6 from Rafał Mużyło galtgendo@o2.pl --- ...depending on your monitor setup, you might need to move them too...
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57500
--- Comment #7 from Mitch Claborn mitch@claborn.net --- That did not help. Below are the commands I tried. Both windows showed "Map State: IsUnMapped" before and after the commands. wmctrl -l did not show those windows before or after.
wmctrl -r 0xcc00005 -b add,fullscreen,above wmctrl -R 0xcc00005 wmctrl -r 0xcc00007 -b add,fullscreen,above wmctrl -R 0xcc00007

--- Comment #8 from Rafał Mużyło galtgendo@o2.pl --- ...'man wmctrl'...
You want 'wmctrl -i -R <WID>'.
Also, by 'move', I meant if '-R' won't suffice to move them onscreen (if they're currently offscreen), you might need to explicitly pass the new position through geometry.

--- Comment #9 from Mitch Claborn mitch@claborn.net --- Using 'wmctrl -i -R <WID>' did cause the windows to show.
Strangely, after doing that once, SQLyog now starts and shows on screen with no intervention. I'm very confused why that would be the case.
(Apologies if this is a duplicate comment. I know that I entered one like this yesterday, but am not seeing it on the ticket now.)

--- Comment #10 from Mitch Claborn mitch@claborn.net --- I had the same window display issue after installing 10.0-rc2. I had to show the "Wine Mono Installer" window for everything to display properly.
