Created an attachment (id=29955) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29955) Output
I'm trying to run Half-Life from Steam in Debian Sid. When I click in the play button, the popup window saying "prepare to launch Half-Life..." appears and then hides. My video card is SIS671/761 wich I run Steam and Half-Life pretty well in Windows XP. Wine 1.2-rc6 started the game but this new version cannot do that. Please, see the attachment. Thank you and sorry about my english.

from your log: err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo The Mesa OpenGL driver is using software rendering, most likely your OpenGL drivers haven't been installed correctly
You most likely want to work out if you can get hardware accelerated OpenGL for your video card.
If it does indeed launch with 1.2-rc6 then please post the results of your regression test http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #2 from albucc abmpicoli@uol.com.br 2010-08-05 17:19:20 --- It seems I have a similar problem, at least on an overview, launching Civilization IV BTS, steam version. I managed to make a detailed debug.
Symptoms: after download of the source-code version of wine 1.3.0-166-g277040d and install the program (Civilization IV) stopped working with the same kind of symptoms that seems to be happening with half-life.
To guarantee that the problem wasn't with some garbled registry, did make uninstall make clean configure sudo make install with the same code.
Reinstalled steam with a downloaded version, installed steam following instructions recommended on the wiki for steam, and downloaded Civilization IV BTS. Detailed execution log was obtained by changing the command line of the civilization IV launcher:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/alexander/.wine" WINEDEBUG=+seh,+tid,+relay,+olerelay wine 1>~/civ4bts.out 2>~/civ4bts.err winebrowser steam://rungameid/8800
The generated results are being annexed, and also the configurations.

You shouldn't be posting your problem here unless you've run a regression test for both applications and found they are affected by the same commit. Otherwise file a new bug report because your application is different.

--- Comment #5 from Willian Gustavo Veiga wiltave@zipmail.com.br 2010-08-05 19:55:43 --- I also have Steam installed in Windows. I mounted Windows' partition and tried to run Half-Life from there and it worked! I did the regression but it doesn't work anymore. I don't know what's wrong.

--- Comment #6 from butraxz@gmail.com 2013-06-09 11:34:51 CDT --- This has not been updated for over 900 days.
Is this still an issue in 1.6-rc1 or higher or is this abandoned ?

--- Comment #7 from Walter Woden wodencafe@gmail.com --- While I'm not sure that the details of my crash are quite the same as the originally reported bug, Steam's Half Life 1 is broken for me on Ubuntu 13.10 x64 wine 1.7.11.
It will open, but the second I push the arrow key to move, it crashes with: err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x1db0e984 "?" wait timed out in thread 0032, blocked by 0000, retrying (60 sec)
Should this be a separate bug report?
I found an older bug that is similar to this issue, but it has been Closed: Abandoned and no new one opened (Unless the new one is this one).

--- Comment #8 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
I can't reproduce this, the game runs fine.
If you still have this problem, your Steam WINEPREFIX _is_ broken. Reinstall in clean (new!) prefix with recent Wine version.
Resolving 'fixed'.
