Bug #: 34109 Summary: Acrobat Reader XI crashes opening fillable PDF Product: Wine Version: 1.6-rc5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jamesl@bestweb.net Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 45355 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45355 wine backtrace after opening fillable form w/javascript
Installed the official Adobe Acrobat Reader v11 (11.0.00) to a clean Wine profile (WINEPREFIX to a new directory). Only setting I changed/verified was to make sure it defined the install as "Winxp" (using winecfg). Could open any regular PDF files. However. opening a "fillable" PDF with javascript popups immediately crashed the programme.
Had tried this under Crossover Office and also tried installing extra packages in a profile using winetricks. Got much the same results as soon as I tried opening this form.
Form is available at: https://apps.health.ny.gov/doh2/applinks/accessny/forms/DOHAccessNyMainForm....

--- Comment #3 from James E. LaBarre jamesl@bestweb.net 2013-07-23 14:08:14 CDT --- Nope, I tried an install to a clean prefix, loaded the winetricks "wsh57" verb, installed Acrobat 11, and reader crashed as before.

--- Comment #4 from James E. LaBarre jamesl@bestweb.net 2013-09-27 15:39:03 CDT --- I disagree with Rosanne DiMesio's suggestion that the bug is not important. SO long as the OSS alternatives do not support javascript, etc, then the only option to working with such files is the proprietary MSWindows version under Wine.

I disagree with Rosanne DiMesio's suggestion that the bug is not important.
Where did she say that? If you are talking about comment 1 please read the URL there and note that the critical status means a "Critical problem that prevents all applications from working". Since this is not the case the severity was reduced to normal.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-09-27 18:46:46 CDT --- It doesn't immediately crash here (and I'm curious how you avoided bug 33162), but it does crash once the fillable field is activated.
Confirming in wine-1.7.3.

Ah, it does crash immediately if I use the PDF you linked, I had a different fillable one.

Work around with 'winetricks atmlib'
Filling form fields of PDF referenced in comment #9 works fine.
