When attempting to run winecfg from the applications menu it fails silently.
When running it from the terminal it gives the error as seen in the attachment
and does not display the gui.

You've got something installed that's getting in the way.  Remove ~/.wine and
try again.

Deleting the .wine folder allows winecfg to run normally again. Still do not
know the cause of the original problem
