Summary: Puzzle Quest: Warlords Battlecry III crashes whole system Product: Wine Version: 0.9.56. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: 412@gmx.net
When I run Puzzle Quest version 1.02 on Wine 0.9.56 and try to accept the first quest in the game (right after the start) Wine crashes and takes the entire system with it. The screen locks up after the confirmation sound is played and then nothing happens. I have to do a cold reset to get back into the Xserver. I can neither swap nor restart the Xserver once the application has locked.
I can't produce Shell output because Wine doesn't write to the file I piped to output to. I tried debugging the application but wine-dbg console appears on my screen and won't run the application until I type "quit" and close it.
I run Xubuntu Linux 7.10 with the latest ATI drivers (catalyst 8.3 - 8.47.3). The game is run in a window at 1024x768 and behaves completely normal (minor graphical glitch around the mouse pointer) until I click on that Accept button.

--- Comment #1 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-03-06 20:15:17 --- Unless you're running as root, which you shouldn't, Wine as a user program cannot possibly crash your computer. You mostly have a buggy driver.
