I could install the game "Lands of Lore 3" and play the intro video, and play in software mode, but when i tried to change the game setting into direct3D mode the game stopped and crashed.
i send a text file with the wine debug.

which protection uses Lands of lore 3 cd? how can i find out the protection sort? i thought wine is able to handle with protections?
i can play in 3D mode when i set the graphic options to 3dfx mode by using a windows glide wrapper:)---dgVoodoo , but the graphic is bad after it. i am using an agp nvidia graphic card with nvidia linux drivers..mandriva 2010
i dont know if there are problems with kde 4 too?
in windows xp i can not start the game, it starts normally with a short video. and the nvidia graphics card+ driver can not play this video, the game crashes, stopped, when i used an old ati graphic card before i could play the game.
today there is a new problem, suddenly the game doesnt want to start any more, i made some distro packages updates..or what ever, i will post the new debug file later.

but there is a generel problem with mounting of cds. sometimes wine can not see a new mounted cd. finally when a cd is mounted and find by wine. i can play the game, but when lands of lore 3 ask to put the cd number 2, lol3 can not find the cd.
i dont know if it is a mounting problem by wine or mandriva?? but in mandriva i can access new cds in dvd-drive.
what is the best wine version for playing older direct3D games? wine 1.01?

is the original package rpm wine version 1.36 from mandriva bad?
and i dont think it is a copy protection problem, it is more a wine direct3D and maybe nvidia driver problem.

the other problem with mounting the game cds:
this is problem of mandriva 2010, not of wine! when i play in gnome i can change the cds during game, but not when i play under KDE 4.

no answer, marking abandoned. Also removing 'obfuscation' as this was most likely not a copy protection problem. Reopen if still a problem with _recent_ Wine.
