Created an attachment (id=23506) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=23506) Log with howto setting except OffscreenRenderingMode = backbuffer
I've installed hoi3 as described in this howto (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425470).
After the startup tells me "Map Properly Initialised..." the programm crashes.
I've using openSuSE, Wine 1.1.29, GeForce 7900GS with 256MB and nVidia driver 185.18.36.
I've tried to set
OffscreenRenderingMode = backbuffer, fbo and pbuffer PixelShaderMode = enabled
But he behavior didn't change.

--- Comment #1 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2009-09-08 07:52:30 --- That howto claims that Hearts of Iron III works fine in 1.1.28. Did you try that Wine version?
Also your log misses a backtrace.

--- Comment #2 from wawalkenhorst wawalkenhorst@gmail.com 2009-09-08 13:22:07 --- Hello, yes I tried that first, but when I saw ..29 was out I updated and tried again. The error has been the same.
I will look after a Backtrace and upload it.

Hi,
where can I find the backtrace?
I can't find a backtrace and when I start the debuger manually I don't get any message either. Is there some newbie guide to backtracing. I only found this (http://wiki.winehq.org/Backtraces) which isn't very useful,
greetings

--- Comment #4 from Issam Mehssani i.mehssani@gmail.com 2009-12-27 12:30:20 --- I'm also experiencing the same bug, and I couldn't get a backtrace. The only output from winedbg was "Process of pid=0019 has terminated", so I guess it's not technically a crash but the game quitting.
I also noticed the issue disappears when playing within an emulated desktop. I've tried this with wine 1.1.32, I'll compile v35 and try it out. If you need any more info just drop a comment.

--- Comment #5 from Javier Kohen jkohen@users.sourceforge.net 2010-07-25 02:42:03 --- I'm using Wine 1.2 and I've had this issue as well using the default rendering mode (fbo IIRC). After looking around the web I found two solutions: 1. Modify settings.txt in the game's directory and set the native screen resolution. This one works for me. 2. Set up a virtual desktop with winecfg. Others report this to work, but I haven't tried it myself.
