Summary: Ventrilo starts having a long delay after some time Product: Wine Version: 1.1.10 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: thgreasi@uth.gr
Some times Ventrilo (after random time passed) starts having a long delay to transmit & receive the voip stream. If you restart Ventrilo the problem gets fixed for a while. I'm using Ventrilo without PushToTalk while playing warcraft 3: TFT but the same problem have occured to me even when I was not running anything else.
Extra notes: *I run the linux version of Ventrilo Server on my PC. *The transmit & receive delay has an average Round Trip Time of 10 seconds when it occurs.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10

--- Comment #1 from Will Ballantyne winehq.org@xkeken.com 2009-01-26 19:43:03 --- I have this problem as well. Not running the server, problem manifests itself just with the client. Using Ubuntu 8.04 with the latest wine updates

--- Comment #5 from T.Parker tparker@etherstorm.net 2009-03-18 18:31:42 --- This happens to me as well:
Vent 3.0.4 client (win 9x version) Fedora 10 x86_64, installed from disk, updated on mainboard sound card, no second sound card
Delay happens when Vent is ran through both WINE 1.1.15 installed through yum and in a WINE-git build of 1.1.15, only change made in my WINE-git was addition of patch for >4G RAM.
WINE cfg audio settings are: Alsa, Hardware Acceleration: Emulation, Driver Emulation box checked.
Vent setup: no direct sound, in or out (default wave mapper for both) PTT box checked, set to left ctrl key direct input to detect hotkey box unchecked

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-09-15 15:37:06 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.29 or newer) wine?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16600
--- Comment #7 from Thodoris Greasidis thgreasi@gmail.com 2009-09-28 02:18:48 --- Now in 1.1.30 the problems seems very smoothen. After two 3 hour testing I didn`t experience any of the "30 seconds delay" I used to have. But I still after a while noticed 3 seconds delay, event if my ping was just 63ms.
Not very sure if this bug is closed, need more confirmations. I will continue testing the next two weeks.

--- Comment #8 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-12-20 22:15:07 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.9 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #9 from Mark chaostheory07@gmail.com 2011-05-04 06:24:08 CDT --- I would venture to say this is not a WINE bug at all. I have used Ventrilo in native Windows for years, and it has ALWAYS done this. After a while, one of us has a delay issue, and have to log out and back in. Might have something to do with the company the ventrilo server is bought from, but I doubt it is the Ventrilo client, at least not as far as WINE is concerned.
