Summary: regression from 0.9.60 to 0.9.61 Product: Wine Version: 0.9.61. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dmacbanay@gmail.com
Until wine version 0.9.60 setup files from the link below would not work. Then in version 0.9.60 they started to work perfectly but in version 0.9.61 it is back to not functioning again. I can re-install version 0.9.60 and it works but fails when 0.9.61 is re-installed.

--- Comment #2 from DMacbanay dmacbanay@gmail.com 2008-05-03 19:40:13 --- It fails to initialize. Just the background for the program appears and the dialog for the extraction process never appears. In 0.9.60 everything was working great as long as the native riched20.dll was used. If the native dll isn't used it hangs up even before the background of the program appears.

--- Comment #4 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-05-06 12:32:28 --- you really have two problems here - one for the program not appearing (possibly a z-order problem?) and another for the richedit bug. Please file a separate bug report for the richedit problem.

--- Comment #5 from DMacbanay dmacbanay@gmail.com 2008-05-06 13:34:24 --- the regression report was for the failure of the program to appear even with over-riding the riched20 dll. I would assume the richedit problems will get fixed whenever they get fixed but seeing as WINE is heading toward a final release I thought something should be done about the regression which occurred with whatever setup program these files are using.

--- Comment #6 from Andrew Nguyen arethusa26@gmail.com 2008-10-26 21:48:26 --- With the e-Sword installer obtained today, I can't reproduce a crash in 1.1.7, so that seems to be fixed. I'll open a bug for the richedit issues.

--- Comment #7 from James McKenzie jjmckenzie51@earthlink.net 2008-10-26 22:44:45 --- @Andrew: Richedit bug already exists: bug 6254 or 6524. I'm very aware of this problem and it is related to the non-implementation of EM_FORMATRANGE. James McKenzie

--- Comment #10 from James McKenzie jjmckenzie51@earthlink.net 2008-10-26 23:00:41 --- @Andrew: I am the maintainer of e-Sword. Any attempts to use any of the additional add-ons without using the native riched20.dll in the installer directory will fail with a message about attempting to setup the installer. I've researched this and the failure is in the unimplemented call to EM_FORMATRANGE which is in bug 6254. There is an associated patch which Tony Rollo from Corvu attempted to submit in 2006. I picked up this patch and updated it to work with Wine 0.9.59, and was able to install the above Bible, the American Standard Version. Thus, any reports on problems with richedit that involve this call should be fixed with the implementation of EM_FORMATRANGE. If you feel that you can resolve this issue, you are welcome to pick up where I left off and finish the work. James McKenzie

--- Comment #11 from James McKenzie jjmckenzie51@earthlink.net 2008-10-26 23:08:30 --- @Andrew: I cannot find your bug report on Richedit problems. I've searched for currently opened bugs and closed bugs marked as dupes. I've closed no issues today and I don't have admin level to do so.
