Civ5 Vanilla installs via Steam No intro shown, but game runs No in-game text at all, but everything else seems to work (although I did'nt test to deep, because I don't unterstand the game without text)
I tried clean 32bit and 64bit prefixes with both wine 1.6.2 and wine 1.1.17. Same results.

I've come across a similar issue recently in Civilization V with the open source nouveau driver, on my part the bug has already been fixed in Mesa git: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91124

I just tested the game and I can't confirm this bug. Works for me.
wine 1.7.53(up to date git), amd r9 290, mesa drivers
