Summary: Internet explorer 6 address bar problems Product: Wine Version: 0.9.41. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-kernel AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jon.fairbairn@cl.cam.ac.uk
On loading Internet Explorer 6 (installed via IEs4Linux) only the first character of the address is displayed in the address bar (ie an "h" for http... or an "a" for about:...), and addresses typed in here fail to load with a "The page cannot be displayed" error. While typing into the address bar, although the characters entered appear in the address bar correctly, the pop-up 'Search for "..."' collapses pairs of characters into question marks. ie entering an h will show 'Search for "h"' but following that with a t will show 'Search for "?"', a second t gives 'Search for "?t" and a p gives 'Search for "??"' and so on.
The problem arose between 0.9.39 and 0.9.41, and doesn't present with IE 5 or 5.5
There are various reports of this at http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2492&sid=4e652... and it's bug 248999 on bugzila.redhat.com, where it is suggested that it still worked in 0.9.40 and doesn't work in 0.9.42
