Summary: RCT3 crashes on launch when virtual desktop isn't used (fullscreen). Product: Wine Version: 1.1.34 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: racecar56@gmx.com
Created an attachment (id=25186) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25186) The complete output of Wine when running RCT3.
RCT3 crashes before showing up and makes resolution shrink. I normally use 1680x1050, and it shrinks the screen to 800x600.

--- Comment #3 from Pavel Ondracka drakkk@centrum.cz 2010-03-02 14:06:41 --- The "No matching mode found" error should be harmless (the application probably tries different resolutions until it finds one that works), however this crash looks familiar to me. This may be the same issue as in bug 17133.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2011-11-16 13:48:53 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 1.5 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.32 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #5 from racecar56@gmx.com 2011-11-23 17:51:23 CST --- It won't install, so it doesn't matter anymore. Maybe it's a disc problem, I don't know.

--- Comment #6 from racecar56@gmx.com 2011-11-23 17:52:19 CST --- Also, this is with Wine 1.3.33, compiled from source on Arch AMD64.

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2011-11-25 19:10:19 CST --- Try an older version of wine to see if the problem is wine or the disc.
If Wine, a regression test would help: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #8 from racecar56@gmx.com 2011-11-26 03:28:41 CST --- I went quite a bit back to Wine 1.3.24, and this bug doesn't happen. I actually reused the prefix, but it's all fine. In fact, I think it works better than it used to in versions older than that. Eventually, I'll probably get to try more versions, and find what breaks when.

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-12-05 21:50:46 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.7 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.7 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

--- Comment #10 from racecar56@gmx.com 2013-12-09 11:47:41 CST --- Created attachment 46818 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=46818 Wine output when not using a virtual desktop
I've been rather busy and I haven't used Wine much in the recent times, so this took me a while. Here is the output when I don't use a virtual desktop. The game actually changes my desktop resolution to 800x600, and it also makes a window, so I can see it in Alt-Tab, but switching to it brings no good results. Pressing Space or Escape makes the game crash with the attached output. The interesting thing here is that the game immediately crashes when using a virtual desktop, so now it seems the bug is the opposite way around. From what I've gathered this time around, the game does not work at all in Wine 1.7.7, at least with my 64-bit Debian and ATI video card.
