Bug ID: 49999 Summary: It should be possible to submit results for all versions of the current stable branch Product: WineHQ Apps Database Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: appdb-unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: elk_aide@startmail.com Distribution: ---
Lots of Linux Distributions and FreeBSD only ship the stable releases of wine in their repositories. They often stick to the first minor release (In Debian and FreeBSD this currently is 5.0 for example).
I think it should be possible to submit tests with the distribution's own most recent wine package, as that probably is the main way wine is aquired.
Therefore the AppDB list should include the "outdated" minor releases of the current stable branch for selection aswell. This is currently not the case (only 5.0.2 is available for selection currently).
Cheers!

Did you read what the AppDB page said there: "Version not listed? Your Wine is too old, upgrade!"

I'm not sure you actually read the bug report; the request is that this exact policy be reversed.

--- Comment #3 from Joerg Schiermeier mywine@schiermeier-it.de --- There is a reason why the formula says: "Version not listed? Your Wine is too old, upgrade!"
Because of this, I recommend to set this bug to "wontfix".
Please report bugs to the maintainer of your distro. The maintainer will have to provide a newer version of wine in the distro's repository. Newer versions of wine may have less bugs.

I recommend to set this bug to "wontfix".
We can't list every version that some distro might ship.

I disagree. It's not about *every* version, but stable versions.
In my opinion, this should not be closed without discussing on wine-devel.

I think it's a WONTFIX, then.
