Bug ID: 40773 Summary: Strider crashes on launch Product: Wine Version: 1.9.12 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: strider@strycore.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 54672 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=54672 Backtrace produced when running with 1.9.12
I have been testing this game for the past few months on every Wine release to test progress made on the DirectX11 implementation. Now that the API is starting to be more complete and some DirectX11 games now work, I believe this is a good time to start tracking this issue.

Is Steam installed properly in Wine or are you using an external Steam installation? Because it looks like you are using a different partition to play the game.

I am indeed using a Steam installation located on another ext4 partition (I've been using the same Steam installation for years, even moving it around across computers). All other (non DirectX11) games work properly from this location. I can try again with a standard Steam install if this is believed to produce a different output.

It probably doesn't matter. Can you attach a +tid,d3d11,d3d log?

Sure, here is the log for the game (there may be some Steam related errors at the beginning and end of the log file)

Thanks, although it looks like the debug flags did not register, see https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log for reference (likely a typo I imagine). If the full log is too large to attach please compress it.

Right, the previous log didn't run with the correct WINEDEBUG value, here is an updated one, with a lot more info (37MB uncompressed)

Can you test even more recent wine? Wine has matured a lot since you last time posted here. And if you do, please update the log too.

--- Comment #8 from Mathieu Comandon strider@strycore.com --- I would close this bug report since Strider no longer crashes on launch (at least on Wine Staging), instead a black screen is shown and I can hear the background music and the game responding to keypresses.

It's not fixed if it's a problem in plain Wine.
