Bug ID: 42344 Summary: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Doesn't launch/hangs Product: Wine Version: 2.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: spleefer90@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 57111 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=57111 steam MGSV launch log
Using steam version and wine-staging.
Set W7 in winecfg.
Launching the executable through the terminal just makes it kill itself after a few seconds.
Launching through Steam makes one thread work at 100% and it just hangs there.

--- Comment #1 from C0rn3j spleefer90@gmail.com --- My bad, was launching the wrong game from the terminal, launching it from the terminal still hangs.
There's also MP and SP portion of the game, I was launching the SP(default one launched).
Launching the MP pushes out a lot of DX and DX11 related errors, I'll post a log of that later.

--- Comment #2 from C0rn3j spleefer90@gmail.com --- Upon further inspection this game seems to have Denuvo DRM, but it's weird that launching MP directly still crashes on DX instead of Denuvo.

There has been some progress with Tomb Raider Rises and it says to be a Denuvo game, can you try this bug with more recent wine?

--- Comment #4 from C0rn3j spleefer90@gmail.com --- Trying with wine-staging 2.8, it now crashes instead of hanging.
