Here is the output of wine

Hi,

I have been playing for a long time with this game through wine, without
meeting any major problem. But since I upgraded to wine-1.3.0 the game refuses
to launch : wine starts up, resolution of the screen is changed, and an error
message occurs, saying to report the problem here ;-).

I tested the HOMAM 2 Gold (Game + datadisc) a i don't have such problem. Works
fine here in all the following versions:
 * 1.2-rc4, 1.3.0, 1.3.1

Oh, it's very strange then... My wine install is quite common I guess, and a
fresh install of the game did not change anything.

Here are the flags used to build wine (on Gentoo, amd64 arch) :

I would recommend two things:
 * not using any optimization or messing with CFLAGS in case of Wine
 * link your bug report against AppDB, so other players with the same problem
are aware of it (i linked it right now)

So when you are running Gentoo, it shouldn't be a problem for you to follow:

Can anyone update this?

I don't have the game but this game had fixmes that another game has and I am
figuring out if it can be solved (shadow company).

The GOG.com Windows version works fine with my Mac OS X 10.9.2 and Wine 1.7.16.
But maybe this version is modified somehow by GOG.com.

I just tested the original game version and can't reproduce the original issue
in 1.2.3, 1.3.22 and 1.7.18. Since no one was ever able to reproduce I'm
resolving this as worksforme. If anyone is still able to reproduce the original
issue feel free to reopen.
