I had wine up and kicking on Mac OS X Leopard, running most of what I wanted it
to. I had installed it like I read
(http://davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/), and was using version 1.0.1.
Then I upgraded to Snow Leopard and tried to run Perfect World.

Whenever I tried, it said something about my clock being wrong. I tried to fix
that but couldn't (I found information about tools/wine.inf but the only
wine.inf I found wasn't anywhere near a folder called tools and neither was it
modifiable), so I decided to just uninstall MacPorts and Wine and then
reinstall it.

So I did, and I used version 1.1.32.

It didn't work (and I'll tell you what soon).

I uninstalled it again and used the .dmg file available to see if it worked.
Same error.

"The program patcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."

I use the launcher.exe, which then is supposed to run the patcher.exe.
Even if I try to run the patcher.exe itself, the error is the same.

Does anybody know whatever the problem is?

I uninstalled MacPorts and terminal Wine and am using the app right now, so I
don't know how to get the log there.

Something occurred to me, and I decided to check. I was right.
When I am not connected to the internet, there's no error, the patcher launches
just alright, thank you. But when I connect, a Wine Gecko Installer white
window shows up and that error occurs.

Any ideas? =]

I reinstalled wine through macports and tried running the program, same error,
and I tried using either 'wine launcher.exe &> pworld.txt' or 'wine patcher.exe
&> pworld.txt' and neither worked, so I just copied what showed up in terminal
and I'm attaching it here as pworld.rtf

okay, found the error, it was gecko that wouldn't download itself

I managed to get it with the Terminal wine and the patcher worked =P
