Set d3dx9_34 to native in winecfg (bug 42917) and click 'Single Player' in the
menu to reproduce.

gdiplus can be set to native in winecfg to work around.

Attached is a +gdiplus log.

I assume you mean the loading screen image. Hacking GdipCreateBitmapFromGdiDib
to zero the image data blacks it out, so I assume it's going through that
function.

There is something odd about the BITMAPINFO structure we get: biSizeImage is
negative. I don't know what that means.

Tried tracing some of the image data, but I couldn't make any sense of it. I
think it's undefined memory.
