To reproduce:
1. Run ArcGIS_Desktop_106_161544.exe to extract the installer to your Documents folder. 2. Run the installer from the Documents folder. 3. Cancel out of the license activation dialog. 4. Go to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/ArcGIS/Desktop10.6/bin and run `winedbg ArcMap.exe` (running through winedbg avoids ArcGIS's builtin backtrace-suppressing crash dialog). Type c and press Enter to start the program.
The program crashes in gdi32, but it's not clear to me that gdi32 is the problem.
ArcCatalog.exe and ArcGlobe.exe crash in the same way.

You can, however, sign up to download a free trial at https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/trial. The trial version almost certainly has the same bug.

--- Comment #3 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- I downloaded and installed the trial you linked, but the executables you mentioned do not exist. I only have ArcGISPro.exe, but that couldn't start since I couldn't get dotnet461 to properly install in a 64bit WINEPREFIX.
Is this the right trial, can you test whether it has the same bug?

I'm putting a link in the download field to a university which publicly serves the same installer file I have. It is, of course, of no practical use without an ArcGIS license.
