Wine stops responding every time I run the installer. The screen turns blue and
nothing happens.

Please specify the version of Wine you are using, and try the latest
development Wine if you not already doing so. Also, please attach complete
terminal output (http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

Please use Wine 1.1.31, 1.0.1 is almost a year old.

Hi atiitto, if you wan to install NHL 98, can't run autorun.exe. It crashes and
probably never worked correctly. Instead run setup/english/setup.exe (I think
you have to switch to Win98 in winecfg).

After you install the game, copy missing files and directories to "drive_c/EA
Sports/NHL 98.". If you miss this step, you will get Windows message saying
"Please insert the CD". (no crack needed, just copy missing files).

Next you will need to download pe.exe ("wget http://jeffz.name/code/pe.exe").

Then run "wine pe.exe nhl98.exe" (this changes MajorSubsystemVersion version
from 4 to 3 in EXE's header).

Finally in winecfg change back to WinXP and run nhl98.exe. Enjoy!

As a reward for your NHL playing, you can go now and create new section in
AppDB about NHL 98, put test result and link against this bug report.
