Disable winegstreamer in winecfg. You need to install wmp9 quartz devenum in
order to watch the videos. Actually, if you press <Enter> a couple of times
during the black screens, the game will load to the menu.

GyB, thanks for advice about pressing Enter (three times). I knew about
'devenum', 'quartz' and 'wmp9', but this time I haven't installed them. Just
directx. Game runs now, but has gameplay "jerks". Unplayable.

May I ask what video card and driver are you using?
The demo hits bug #30800 for me: the game is freezing when loading a race.
