--- Comment #1 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-02-03 11:03:40 --- Please upgrade to latest Wine version and retest. Also read FAQ for how to properly run applications on Wine (your command line is wrong).

--- Comment #4 from Andrez yahgooglegan@yahoo.com 2008-04-13 11:36:52 --- I also have this problem in Diablo 2. The register configuration is exactly the same and also it crashes at the same address/instruction.
It is possible that the problem might be in d2sound.dll which comes with diablo 2.
From what i see there it crashes when it accesses the 6-th element of an array
in an if instruction.
I don't know what happens on Windows because for me the game doesn't work either in XP or Vista because it crashes on startup.

Have you tried running in 98/2k/(whatever windows version does work) mode?

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-10-23 15:18:36 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.6 or newer) wine?

I think that this bug might happen because of the additional third party no-cd loader for Diablo 2. (which by the way.. works with Wine but does not work with Windows NT :D ) I don't know it this is also the case for the guy who originally reported it but i think it is a very strong chance.

Can you test it without that hack?

Is there a bug report for this? I presume it's safedisc or some other obfuscation?

test it again on windows and it works like in wine. crashes on exit. in my case it is not a wine bug.
