Bug #: 33950 Summary: Altium Designer 10 (Build 27009), [Regression] Access violation at address 1065F02C in module 'AdvSch.dll' Product: Wine Version: 1.6-rc4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: cheeef@swissonline.ch Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 45096 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45096 Wine & Altium designer error messages
When I try to create a new schematic or open an existing one AD10 reports an "access violation". This is a regression, with wine 1.4 the same procedure works without errors.
AD10 error message: "Access violation at address 1065F02C in module 'AdvSch.dll'. Read of address 00000000 at 1065F02C.
Exception Occurred In OpenObject"

--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2013-07-04 10:34:32 CDT --- http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=22939 says a similar error happened in version wine-1.4.1, so it might not be a change in wine that broke this.
What native DLLs are you using?
Alternately, can you narrow down the commit that broke it? See http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2013-07-14 09:01:44 CDT --- I can't reproduce this with a fresh installation. I did:
1) patch wine to work around bug 34013 ( http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45197 ) 2) patch wine to work around bug 34030 ( http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45265 ) 3) "winetricks vd=1024x768" to work around bug 34012 (you can undo this after the installer finishes) 4) "winetricks gdiplus" to work around bug 34031 (I'm testing altium 13, too) 5) "winetricks mdac28" to work around bug 34018
And then both altium 10 and altium 13 were able to load template documents ok.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

--- Comment #4 from winetest@luukku.com --- I think Dan gave a working link at some Altium Designer bug and I was about to test the open bugs, but you need a working key to test the bugs...which I don't have.

Let's call this particular one fixed, per my comment #2, or abandoned, or duplicate, since the original poster hasn't responded.
How about the other bugs? You still need a key to test. Unless they removed the lisence requirement...

--- Comment #7 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com --- What do motivated folks do when trying to fix bugs in copy-protected games? The same somewhat risky technique might be useful here.
My officially-issued demo key expired in 2013, fwiw.
