Hopefully that is some sort of trial key, right?

Your wine version is too old and unsupported, when reporting bugs try to always
test in the latest development version of wine (currently 1.9.17) or at least
the stable (currently 1.8.4).

I installed 1.8.4  the error has changed to ther serial number is missing or
incorrect. please re-install doublecad.

this is a free verison I use in  windows for some 2d cad drawings. was hoping
to get this to work in wine. I have windows 10 which doublecad works ok in. I
prefer using linux mint.

Did you try reinstalling the application in a clean prefix after updating wine?

I just registered myself an account and I got different key.

I used fresh prefix.

After installing the program I do get the same error message.

"I installed 1.8.4  the error has changed to ther serial number is missing or
incorrect. please re-install doublecad."

wine 2.0rc4.

Still valid wine 2.8-git. I didnt try to install with wine-staging, but used
the same install and staging 2.8 gives the same error message, but the issue
could be at install time already?

With wine-5.21, you can select a file nut then software ends silently
