Bug ID: 49321 Summary: Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x33845f5 Product: Wine Version: 5.9 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: mssxtn@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 67335 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=67335 debug log
Ran CMUD 3.44 pro for weeks with minimal issues. The last 2-3 days, the program will not start. It gives me a memory access violation and will not run.
I had installed CMUD in a win32 prefix, running as windows version winxp.
I completely uninstalled WINE and all associated packages, uninstalled CMUD, deleted the wine prefix and started over.
Installed a default wineprefix, with no windows version specified. Problem occured during installation of cmud 3.34. Attached is the output of the installation debug, Cmud's own install output, and the output of the wineprefix setup.
I've seen a couple instances of this bug here on the tracker and they were self-resolved or were marked as 'invalid'. Hopefully I can figure out a fix.

FWIW I tried trial and cannot reproduce the crash from comment 1.
@OP: does the crash happen with the trial for you too?
Side note: when version set to (default) win7 there`s an annoyingly error window (ole error 0x80004001) at start and exit, but you can click "continue" and the app seems to work as expected.
I`ll open bugreport for the errorwindow.

The crash does occur when trying to install from the provided download link. It gets to the same point 'Executing c:/blah/blah/CMUDPro.exe" /REGSERVER' and throws the access violation.
Re:side note: This is a somewhat 'known' bug in Cmud under wine. Running under winxp resolves the problem.

I apologize, re-reading my initial comment it does sound like two separate issues. However, the memory access violation is the "issue", which occured initially a few days ago and also occurs during reinstallation (while running cmudpro.exe \REGSERVER) and while trying to run the program itself after reinstallation. It's all the same 'bug', just found multiple ways of reaching it.

--- Comment #7 from Louis Lenders xerox.xerox2000x@gmail.com --- I tried with staging-5.9 and current git version of wine, but still no crash/"Access violation". Maybe try with upcoming wine-5.10, as wine-5.9 seems to have had a few problems (??)
Don`t really know as I cannot reproduce it :(

Downloaded and compiled the current git version from the AUR and CMUD runs fine with no crash/access violation.
The End User in me says "Good, yay, fixed."
The fellow programmer in me says "But wait.. why did that bug show up in the first place? Why have half a dozen people encountered the same bug from different applications in different versions? Where is this coming from?!"
"... Gremlins."
If there's anything further I can do to try to pinpoint where this 'bug' is located, let me know.. But since you can't reproduce it and the git version of wine runs the application with no crashes, "technically" this is resolved by updating to the latest version, upon its release.
