--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-09-15 15:41:06 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.29 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #3 from Jos Ewert flami@flami.net 2009-09-16 07:00:32 --- Yes the problem is still present in wine-1.1.29: "trace:d3d_caps:shader_glsl_get_caps Hardware vertex shader version 3.0 enabled (GLSL) trace:d3d_caps:shader_glsl_get_caps Hardware pixel shader version 3.0 enabled (GLSL)"
On the other hand any R500 and older cards are unsupported since fglrx 9.4 It was quite a lot of work to get it working again ( downgrading libdrm ... ). So this issue might have resolved itself.
( SM3 is supported from ATI R520 and up )

Well by now the machine that had the x700 died a horrible death and the proprietary drivers for the x700 have been discontinued for, I think, over 2 years now. I cannot test it anymore.
I guess the problem might just have solved itself due to of the driver and hardware being completely obsolete.
